🏠 Enclosure
- Use the enclosure dimensions, heating, humidity, and safety values from the structured care profile and full care guide.
🪨 Enclosure furniture
- 18 cm of firmly packed, shape-holding substrate for a stable fossorial tunnel
- Cork tunnel or bark starter burrow, ideally against one side for limited observation
- Shallow water dish kept accessible after heavy webbing
- Secure lid or doors, cross-ventilation, and no gaps that admit feeder insects
- Minimal stable decor and low fall distance; prepare a catch cup before maintenance
💡 Lighting
- No UVB or specialist lighting required; a normal room day-night rhythm is enough
- Photoperiod: 10-12 h of subdued ambient light; no night light
- Keep any plant or display light indirect and away from the burrow entrance
- Avoid bright, hot lamps that overheat or dry the humid deep setup
🌡️ Temperature
- Basking spot: 24-27 °C
- Warm zone: 23-27 °C
- Cool zone: 21-23 °C
- Night: 20-23 °C
💧 Humidity & water
- Target 70-85% humidity, with a shallow dish of fresh water always available
- Keep the lower substrate moist but let the surface and burrow entrance breathe
- Pour water down one side or around the dish rather than heavily misting the web and retreat
- Keep spiderlings in secure ventilated containers with a moist lower layer and a drier surface
- During premolt, raise local retreat moisture toward 80-90%; avoid condensation, saturated tunnels, and stale air
🪳 Feeding
- Feed according to the prey type and schedule in the structured care profile; remove uneaten prey promptly.
🩺 Health — warning signs
- Watch for appetite loss, abnormal posture, injury, breathing issues, failed shedding or molting, and sustained weight loss.
