Rough green snakes are thin, bright-green, arboreal North American snakes that usually do poorly when treated like a small corn snake. They are non-venomous, but they are fragile, quick, visually oriented, and easily stressed by capture, open spaces, and repeated handling.
Adults are often 55-90 cm, with exceptional animals longer. Females tend to be heavier than males, but even large adults remain light-bodied. This is a display animal for keepers who can maintain live insect supply, planted cover, and escape-proof ventilation.

🌍 Distribution
The species is native to the southeastern United States and parts of northeastern Mexico. It uses shrubs, vines, forest edges, hedgerows, fields, and vegetation near ponds, lakes, and streams.
In captivity, the useful lesson is cover and vertical structure, not constant wetness. Provide layered branches, leaves, visual barriers, and dry perches with localized humidity.
